‘American Horror Story’ Season 7 Title and Premiere Date Revealed at Comic-Con
The title for the seventh installment of Ryan Murphy’s “American Horror Story” was finally revealed at Comic-Con on Thursday.
“AHS” season 7 will be titled “AHS: Cult,” per a website, AHS7.com, that was teased at a special event. “AHS: Cult” will premiere on Tuesday, September 5 at 10 p.m. ET.
FX held a brief and cryptic ceremony Thursday night by the waterfront next to the San Diego Convention Center in which a trailer was projected over the water, featuring a number of men in what looks like clown makeup standing in rows and swaying in sync.
The trailer featured a creepy narration: “Do you ever feel alone. Does it seem like no one ever understands you? Do some people just make you sick? Are you afraid? We can set you free. We can make you strong. We want you.”
The trailer ended with a tease for the above-linked website, which displays the logo and subtitle for the seventh season of the FX hit.
The title is just the first of eight “reveals” that will occur weekly through the season premiere on September t. The site prompts visitors to sign up for updates via Facebook.
“JOIN US AND WE WILL CONTACT YOU THROUGH FACEBOOK MESSENGER,” the site reads. “FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THE COMING WEEKS AND YOU WILL BE LED TO EXCLUSIVE AHS CONTENT. THIS BEGINS NOW. ARE YOU READY?”
In a press release, FX stated that AHS7.com “will serve as the official hub of all future reveals leading up to the premiere of ‘AHS: Cult’.”
Though the title of the season has been revealed, there’s far more we don’t know about it than what we do know. But even as cryptic as FX is being in its marketing rollout, it’s being far more forthcoming than it was before season 6 — the premise and title of last year’s season wasn’t revealed until the season premiere aired.
While the upcoming season, like those before it, has been shrouded in secrecy, Murphy has let on in the past that it will somehow involve the 2016 presidential election.
Murphy has been dropping clues about the upcoming installment on social media, with the “last clue” having been posted on Monday. “AHS last clue before this week’s TITLE reveal. Ideas?” Murphy wrote, along with a photo of a person seemingly covered in bees.
The sixth season of “AHS” was titled “Roanoke,” which starred Lily Rabe, Denis O’Hare, Kathy Bates, Frances Conroy, Angela Bassett, Wes Bentley, Finn Wittrock, Lady Gaga, Cheyenne Jackson, Leslie Jordan, Adina Porter, Robin Weigert, and Taissa Farmiga. It was nominated for four Creative Arts Emmy Awards this year, including Best Makeup and Best Sound Editing.
