Vertical Entertainment Acquires Demi Moore, Alec Baldwin Romantic Drama ‘Blind’
Vertical Entertainment has acquired the North American rights to “Blind,” a romantic drama starring Demi Moore, Alec Baldwin and Dylan McDermott, TheWrap has learned.
“Blind” reunites Moore and Baldwin after they appeared opposite each other in the 1996 thriller “The Juror.”
Foresight Unlimited will be selling the international rights to the film directed by Michael Mailer at the Berlin market, it was announced Wednesday night, and Vertical is targeting a late summer/early fall 2017 theatrical release.
According to the studio’s description, “Blind” tells the story of a novelist blinded in a car crash (Baldwin) that killed his wife, who rediscovers his passion for both life and writing when he embarks on an affair with the neglected wife (Moore) of an indicted businessman (McDermott).
“It’s with great pleasure that we are able to announce our partnership with Michael Mailer and the whole team of ‘Blind.’ We’re looking forward to collaborating on the release in 2017,” Vertical Entertainment’s Co-President Rich Goldberg said in a statement.
Producer/director Mailer added, “Making a movie is like raising a child: you pour your heart and soul into raising an interesting, well-rounded human before sending her off to what you hope will be the right college. With Vertical, I feel like my baby is getting Ivy League treatment.”
The deal was negotiated by Rich Goldberg and Peter Jarowey at Vertical, and Creative Artists Agency, which represents Baldwin, Moore, and McDermott.
Baldwin will next be seen hosting “Saturday Night Live” — again — on Feb. 11.
