YouTube Shooting Suspect Identified (Report)

The shooter in the deadly attack at YouTube headquarters on Tuesday has been identified, according to law enforcement sources cited by CNN.

Nasim Aghdam has been named as the woman who died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after the attack, CNN reported Tuesday night.

Three people were injured in the shooting: a 36-year-old man was in critical condition, a 32-year-old woman was in serious condition and a 27-year-old woman was in fair condition, according to spokesman for Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital.

A representative from the San Bruno Police Department did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment on the identification of the suspect.

The Associated Press reported that Aghdam was from San Diego, California, and had taken part in an animal rights protest in 2009. “For me, animal rights equal human rights,” she told the San Diego Union-Tribune at the time.

Aghdam, then 29, was dressed in a wig and jeans with large blood drops painted on them as she protested pigs being used in military-trauma training.

The motive for the shooting is not yet known but officers believe that the shooter knew at least one of her victims.

“We know very, very little right now, and we probably won’t know more until tomorrow morning,” San Bruno Police Chief Ed Barberini said earlier in the day.

San Bruno police received numerous 911 calls regarding gunshots around 12:46 p.m., NBC Bay Area reported.

An initial 911 emergency call stated that witnesses described “a female in a white shirt.” An officer then said, “That’s the one we have down in the center court area with the gunshot wound in the chest.” A handgun was found about 20 feet away from her.

Approximately 1,100 people work in the YouTube complex in San Bruno, which is about 20 miles away from Google’s main campus in Mountain View, California.
